Nabil Shehata’s career began as solo double bassist with the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Berlin Philharmonic. As a double bass professor in Munich and Berlin and as a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, he passed on his experiences to younger musicians.

Since 2019 he has led the South Westphalia Philharmonic as chief conductor.

He is a lecturer at the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra, at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and a member of the double bass quartet “The Bassmonsters”.

A special feature of this evening is the double bass recorder, with which the flute virtuoso Maria Dorner-Hofmann, together with Claus Freudenstein, the organizer of the Bavarian Bass Days, performs the composition “One down” for double bass, bass recorder and soprano recorder.

Thomas Hartmann is the pianist of the Bavarian Bass Days and will accompany the evening on the piano.
